Check whether JSON data matches a JSON Schema. The browser-based validator supports common schema keywords such as type, properties, required, items, enum, const, pattern, minimum and maximum. It is not a complete implementation of every JSON Schema draft.
Validate JSON against a JSON Schema
JSON Schema describes the expected structure and constraints of JSON data. Use this validator to check API payloads, configuration documents and test fixtures against a schema. It reports common issues such as missing required properties, incorrect data types, invalid enum values and failed string or number constraints.
How to validate JSON
- Paste a JSON Schema document into the schema editor.
- Paste the JSON data into the data editor.
- Select Validate JSON to inspect the results.
- Fix the reported JSON paths and validate again.
Supported schema keywords
The current browser validator supports common type, properties, required, items, enum, const, minimum, maximum, minLength, maxLength, pattern and additionalProperties checks. Advanced JSON Schema features such as remote references, dynamic references, complex composition and all draft-specific behaviors are not implemented.
Frequently asked questions
Can I validate nested objects?
Yes. Nested properties and array items are checked recursively for supported keywords.
Is this a replacement for server-side validation?
No. Validate untrusted data again on your server. Browser validation improves feedback but is not a security boundary.
